Homeopathy and swine flu

The Society of Homeopaths has been contacted by concerned members of the public regarding treatment for swine flu.

The Society advises anyone concerned to consult the NHS advice available at
www.nhs.uk/AlertsEmergencies/Pages/Pandemicflualert.aspx and to follow the symptom checker if necessary, contacting their GP or NHS Direct on 0845 4647 if they are still worried.

The single most effective way to stop or slow the spread of diseases such as~swine~flu is to prevent the spread of germs by:

Registered members of The Society of Homeopaths (RSHoms) regularly prescribe for patients suffering with common ailments such as colds and flu.

Vaccination

The Society of Homeopaths acknowledges that there is much anecdotal and scientific evidence to support the arguments presented both for and against vaccination.

The Society believes that individuals should be supported in making informed decisions on both the short and long term implications of vaccination and advises them to discuss this issue with their General Practitioner and homeopath.

The Society acknowledges that the evidence to support the use of homeopathic prophylactics that is, using homeopathic remedies as a preventative treatment, is largely anecdotal and therefore the use of this method is currently speculative.

The Society acknowledges that the evidence to support the use of homeopathic prophylaxis is largely anecdotal. In accordance with section eleven of the Code of Ethics and Practice, members are reminded of the importance of advising patients that the use of this method is therefore currently speculative.
