ACHRN - Alternative and Complementary Health Research Network
Established in 1996 by a group of academic social scientists and health researchers, located within multiple UK institutions, ACHRN aims to provide a forum for academic researchers, postgraduate students, alternative medicine practitioners, NHS and voluntary sector staff, and service users to present their research, and to stimulate debate and dialogue in the wider alternative medicine community. Meetings held quarterly in Manchester and London.

CAMRN - Complementary & Alternative Medicine Researcher Network
Established by the RCCM to bring together researchers in CAM and conventional medicine in order to promote collaboration and facilitate research of the highest quality. The CAMRN web pages provide information about research news and events, and allow researchers share details of the research they are involved in.

HAT – Homeopathy Action Trust
A fund-raising and fund-giving charity, seeking through its activities to bring together patients and potential users, homeopathic students and professional homeopaths. The aims of the trust include promotion of research into homeopathic medicine and publishing of results. Publishes ‘Picture of Health’ magazine.

RCCM - Research Council for Complementary Medicine
A charitable trust founded in 1983 by a group of enthusiastic practitioners and researchers from both orthodox and complementary medicine. The RCCM aims to develop and extend the evidence base for complementary medicine in order to provide practitioners and their patients with information about the effectiveness of individual therapies and the treatment of specific conditions.

ENHR – European Network of Homeopathy Researchers
Established in 2004 with support from the ECCH. Consists of 55 individuals from 14 countries involved in or with a special interest in homeopathy research. Members include researchers, research advisors and representatives of the homeopathy profession as well as consumer/patient groups. The ENHR aims to contribute to improving homeopathy research for the benefit of patients and to contribute to carrying out international EU funded research projects within the area of homeopathy research.
ViFAB - Knowledge and Research Center for Alternative Medicine
An independent institution under the Danish Ministry of Health and Prevention which aims to promote knowledge of alternative therapies and research within this field. ViFAB encourages dialogue between health care staff, alternative practitioners and users.

ICH – International Council for Homeopathy
Created at the end of 2007 to represent professional homeopaths and to promote homeopathic treatment for patients around the World. The Council currently has a membership of 30 professional associations in 28 countries. ICH aims to promote further appropriate research into homeopathy so that new knowledge will overcome the proclaimed basis of the sceptic attacks.

UK Cochrane Centre
One of twelve Cochrane Centres around the world which co-ordinate The Cochrane Collaboration - an international not-for-profit and independent organisation. The Collaboration produces and disseminates systematic reviews of healthcare interventions worldwide and promotes the search for evidence in the form of clinical trials and other studies of interventions. The major product of the Collaboration is the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews published quarterly as part of The Cochrane Library.

A multi-disciplinary,academically independent centre established by the Department of Health in 1995 to undertake a programme of policy related research in primary care. The centre is a collaboration between the universities of Manchester and York.

NIHR - National Institute for Health Research
Commissions and funds NHS and social care research. The NIHR aims to develop the research evidence to support decision making by professionals, policy makers and patients, make this evidence available, and encourage its uptake and use. Their Portfolio Database contains details of ongoing and recently completed research projects funded by, or of interest to, the National Health Service. This database has replaced the National Research Register terminated in December 2007. The National Research Register Archive has been established as a public resource and to support historical analysis.

A charity founded in 1902 to promotehomeopathy practised by doctors and other healthcare professionals. The BHA believes that homeopathy should be fully integrated into the healthcare system and availableas atreatment choice foreveryone. ECCH - European Council for Classical Homeopathy
Established in 1990 the ECCH is an international council whose membership is made up of 26 established professional associations in 22 EU, EEA and CEE countries. The ECCH aims to encourage the highest standards of professional practice of Classical Homeopathy in homeopaths in order that they are best able to restore and improve the health of patients.
