The Society has called a meeting of complementary medicine organisations targeted by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA).
The meeting, called in conjunction with Freedom4Health will be held at the end of June. Those invited include organisations representing herbalists, acupuncturists, osteopaths and naturopaths.
Representatives around the table will exchange their knowledge and experiences of dealing with the ASA and hear from speakers on ways to counter the ASA campaigns that are often prompted by the Skeptics.
Mark Taylor, Chief Executive of the Society who called the meeting said, ‘All across the CAM sector the unreasonable and ill informed attacks by the ASA are causing unhappiness and confusion, restricting our members right to make a living and patients right to receive the treatment they want. By coming together and sharing information, we will be better placed to resist. It may be that we come to the conclusion to undertake some sort of joint action."
